Movement

As a Church of God (per 1 Corinthians 1:2), we belong to the worldwide Pentecostal movement – officially described as the fastest-growing movement of our time.

Today it counts more than 500 million active Christians. In parts of Latin America, Africa, and Asia, it forms the largest evangelical Christian church in the region. In Germany, the Pentecostal movement partly grew out of earlier revival and holiness movements from the turn of the century; its branches and congregations are therefore known under various names.

What has characterized the Church of God from the beginning, and still does today, is the great freedom it gives to the Holy Spirit in its gatherings and its emphasis on a biblical way of life. We understand ourselves as a free church, covering our financial needs through donations. Our doctrine is grounded solely in the Bible and is based on the evangelical statement of faith.

We believe that the true church of Jesus is made up of born-again believers from all Bible-believing congregations and churches. In terms of church history, we see ourselves as a link in a chain of God-given spiritual movements across the centuries – beginning with the founding of the first church in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2).
